04 - Zuri’s Donutz

This week I headed north to Zuri’s Donutz in Lynnwood. I know I said I would try to stick to Seattle only but they had their window smashed recently so I wanted to swing by. I’m probably the person least familiar with Lynnwood but it was a fairly easy ride, plenty of bike lanes and the Interurban Trail make it a simple enough ride. Tucked in a little strip mall next to another bakery, the inside is anything other than quaint. Decked out with 90s colors and textures straight from Bayside High and Star Wars memorabilia, this donut shop is truly unique. The friendliest donut shop employee gave the biggest smile to every kid that pointed out which donut they wanted and was gracious in sharing his latest project of cheesecakes and homemade chocolate bars. The experimentation in flavors going on here matches the wild decor, fun, vibrant, one of a kind.

So what did I get?! I asked him what his favorite is. “Today? Appelz and Caffeine Fritter!” “Sold.” (I’m in Lynnwood, I can get a fritter). I also picked out a Milk Tea donut. The fritter absolutely tasted like it was made with real apples, no premix packaged kit was used here. It was giant too so I took half home. The Milk Tea donut was a flavor I’d more expect at a Mochinut sort of place, really subtle boba flavored sweet and light. Melt in your mouth softness too.

All in all this is a great donut shop, lots of character and charm, love and deliciousness.
