Donut Reviews - the premise

Having grown up in Dunkin' country, I have always loved donuts, my wife and I even had donuts instead of cake at our wedding!

I hadn't realized Seattle was such a donut city when I first moved here. Imagine my delight when I learned of the many donut shops and styles. As there is a large variety of what exactly a donut is, I will defer to Serious Eats to define that (see rule 1). I won't be targeting every donut shop (ie just one location of Top Pot) nor will I get the mini donuts at every farmers market or stadium (see rule 2).

As this is a rather unhealthy project I am forcing myself to bike to and from each location (see rule 3), that will have no effect on the shop's score, related to bike friendliness or accessibility or the like, it's just for my own health, and restraint forces creativity.

For now I will stick to Seattle shops, though an occasional field trip to another city would be fun too. The official rules are:
  1. A donut is defined as sweetened dough fried in fat (Serious Eats definition)
  2. The business has to make their own donuts (ie not from a grocery store)
  3. I have to bike to and from the donut shop (map of donut shops)
  4. I have to order a standard donut and something unique to that business
